Covid 19 is insidious!
The safety, security, and protection efforts aimed at combating the spread of Covid are more important than ever and will continue to be for the foreseeable future.
Here is a true story of just how this pandemic still has lasting impact.
My friend, the Principal and founder of a financial advisory firm adhered to all of the protocols for a 75-year-old, during the spring, summer, and Fall of 2020. He stayed in lockdown, didn’t go to his office, zoomed, wore a mask, washed his hands constantly, ate only home-cooked or takeout food, and stayed away from his children and grandchildren.
Starting this past January, he and his wife embarked upon an aggressive effort to get themselves vaccinated. They succeeded in getting both of their Pfizer vaccine shots by mid-February of 2021.
In the meantime, his daughter and son-in-law had made the decision they did not want to be vaccinated. His daughter is a teacher but has been teaching remotely and has 3 children.
Feeling confident once the vaccinations were taken, my friend went to visit his daughter, son-in-law, and most importantly his grandchildren and spent some time with them inside.
Following their visit with his family, his daughter and grandchildren were feeling off and being responsible citizens, they went for Covid tests and each one of them unfortunately came back positive.
Fast forward one week from the visit with his family, my friend developed a cough and some fatigue. Something he thought was a condition that he often got at least once a year.
He felt confident because of his vaccinations, therefore, he asked the Medi-Center for cough medicine and some pills similar to what he had taken in the past. The Medi-Center did not recommend or administer a Covid test to my friend.
A couple of days later at his wife’s insistence as he was not feeling any better, he went for a COVID test and the results came back positive.
My friend was under the impression that he was fully protected from getting Covid by the vaccine. He wasn’t, nor is anyone for that matter. The vaccine protected him from getting a more serious case and ending up hospitalized and potentially needing a ventilator. Thank goodness for that.
Lesson learned and one that each one of us needs to be aware of. Covid is out there and it will be for a significant amount of time to come. It continues to be extremely contagious and efforts to safely protect yourself as well as your family and friends continue to be imperative as we learn to live with this and yet, live our lives to the fullest!
Here are some important reminders each and every one of us should always keep in mind :
- Wear a highly protective preferably cotton mask that stops at least 93% of the airborne spread of Covid particles.
- Spray that mask with a proven surface protectant barrier product like ClearSpace Spray that makes it even more impenetrable.
- Keep washing your hands.
- Stay socially distanced when possible particularly from those that have not been vaccinated.
- Protect all surfaces with a product like ClearSpace. Just one application lasts for up to 90 days and provides an antimicrobial barrier treatment to the surface. Therefore no need to constantly disinfect with bleach and other harmful products.
If this true story teaches us anything, it is that Covid is out there and that we will not be completely safe, until everyone is safe. Please help by doing your part for your family and friends to stay safe!
